SEFA Organisation Structure

The Board


The board members are: the Chairman, the President, the two vice-chairmen of the Permanent Committee and 7 vice-chairmen
All board members are issue from our Industry, with the exception of the “contracted” Professional President. The Board President is also Chair of the Permanent Committee

SEFA aims at a representation at the Board of many companies from different countries.
The Board convenes two or three times per year.
The Chairman and the president represent SEFA in the ICDM: International Confederation of Steel Drums Manufacturers.

EIPA


SEFA is a founding member of EIPA: European Industrial Packaging Association. The Chairman and two SEFA Board members represent SEFA in EIPA.
SEFA President is in charge of EIPA secretariat. A working group EIPA/EMPAC TR Committee was created in 2005. To know more about EIPA

Permanent Committee


The SEFA Permanent Committee deals with all current issues submitted to the association.

IThe PC meets usually in March and October. Each country has a mandate for three delegates at most. The PC also welcomes delegates from machines and steel suppliers companies.

The PC deals mostly with:

Transport and Regulatory issues: The works focus on: ISO and EN standardisation; UN Sub-committee of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous goods and evolution of the transport legislations such as RID & ADR… The PC also puts substantial effort in monitoring the developments in the European legislations involving packaging, mainly in the field of environment and food contact.

Marketing issues: This includes topics such as market developments, promotional activities, SEFA web site; competitive packaging and of course: collection of statistics.

It examines any aspect related to the steel and the equipment for steel drums production, in close co-operation with the major European Steel Mills and Machines producers

Association issue: The PC discusses any aspects of the day to day life of the association.

The PC decides, when appropriated, to create ad hoc WG’s to work in smaller committee on specific issues or projects.

Note: Since 2005, many Transport and Regulatory issue are discussed within the EIPA/EMPAC Transport and Regulatory Committee which meet at the same dates as the PC.

General Assembly


The General Assembly convenes once a year; all SEFA members are invited.

It is responsible mainly for:
• The statutes
• Board and Permanent Committee mandates
• Approving the financial accounts

Note: Starting in 2008 the SEFA GA is combined with the EIPA GA.
